Taking a break from my work, I opened up my Bible and God gave me a message. As I ponder the message; I recalled one of the questions that was asked to me many times by other people. The question: How does God speaks through the Bible?
I believe that ‘Christianity’ is a personal Relationship with God; so it is between you and God and how you talk to Him. He talk to us in so many ways. He talks to us through other people, some can hear the inner voice, some can hear the audible voice (of course you have to be careful and consult the Word of God so that you’ll know if it came from God or no.)
But in my case, how does God talk to me through the Bible?
Let me share you a testimony of how God talked to me through the Bible. January 2009, I received a word from Psalms 91:13… a warning.
Psalm 91:13.
You will tread on the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent.
It was a confusing before, but as time goes by I found out that two of the people from the church I used to attend were the lion and the cobra. But God reassured to me that He will protect me and through Him I will be able to trample down those people. I will succeed. (and I did)
Another one was when there was a certain land that I had to decide whether to acquire or not, I prayed and opened up my Bible and He gave me the verse of Joshua and Caleb. (Mainly Caleb)
Joshua 14:9
New International Version (NIV)
9 So on that day Moses swore to me, ‘The land on which your feet have walked will be your inheritance and that of your children forever, because you have followed the LORD my God wholeheartedly.’[a]
and so I decided to acquire the land and God gave it to me.
And sometimes, He gives message that you can rephrase. Such as this message from God just today.. is from the book of Zechariah
Zechariah 8:13
13 Just as you, Judah and Israel, have been a curse[a] among the nations, so I will save you, and you will be a blessing.[b] Do not be afraid, but let your hands be strong.”
So if I will rephrase it, and I would imagine God talking to me it will be like this: “Just as you, Philip and Chette, have been curse among the nations, so I will save you, and you will be a blessing. Do not be afraid, but let your hands be strong.”
Isn’t it awesome how God talks to us through the Bible?
Treat the Bible as a Love letter from God. Every day.. Read it (you can just open it and read a message from God. Some people consult horoscopes and other things, try the Bible… you will be enlightened.)
and you don’t have to be a “leader” or a “preacher” to talk to God.
You don’t even need to go to church to pray and read the Bible to God.
Jesus once said in the Bible:
John 4:23
Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.
Even you are just an ordinary person, even you are not yet a Christian! God gave us the access to talk to Him. He has ripped the curtain or the veil of the temple that separates between you and Him.
The curtain or veil of the Temple separated the Holy of Holies (where the presence of God dwelled) from the rest of the Temple. Only the high priest could enter there once a year, with the sacrificial offering for the sins of all the people. When Christ died and the curtain was torn from top to bottom, this symbolized the destruction of the barrier between God and man. The way was opened up through Christ’s sacrifice on the cross. His death provided the complete sacrifice for sin so that now all people, through Christ, can approach the throne of grace.
